Code of Ethics
Preserving the legacy, respecting the hands
"At BATIKS.LK, we believe that true luxury lies in the harmony between age-old artisan craftsmanship, ethical respect for the makers, and our dedication to preserving the environment."
Ethical Handcrafting
Every garment created by BATIKS.LK is individually hand-drawn with hot liquid wax resist and manually dyed in multiple layers. We strictly refuse mass automated print duplication, certifying that each item supports true physical artisan labor.
Sustainable Livelihoods
We commit to the fair-trade compensation of our production artisans—predominantly female artisans based in rural Sri Lanka. By ensuring fair wages, a clean work workspace, and flexible home-based wax sketching models, we foster local economic independence.
Ecological Stewardship
Traditional batik requires extensive hot water washes to strip wax. We actively invest in transitioning our workshops to natural plant-based dyes, organic linen bases, and modern water reclamation systems to prevent dye runoff and protect regional waterways.
Brand Authenticity
We uphold a zero-tolerance policy against intellectual property theft of traditional designs. BATIKS.LK protects historical Sri Lankan motif layouts while pairing them with contemporary styles, keeping the artisan heritage alive and valued.
